Crafting
There are many rare and powerful items to be found in Trieste, but there’s an extra sense of accomplishment in creating your own. Crafting involves taking items you find or purchase, and turning them into other, more useful items.
Learning to Craft
Before you can begin crafting, you must visit Dora in Ardeca, and select one of the three Crafting Masteries. Not all crafting revolves around one of these Masteries, but you must still select one to begin crafting anything.
Weapon Mastery and Armor Mastery allow you to, eventually, craft the mighty Helpyron and Helion weapons and armor. However, these are high-end items, and you will not be able to craft anything until you are strong enough to challenge the most difficult areas in Dekaron (or are wealthy enough to purchase materials from someone else).
Alchemy Mastery is usable right from level 1, and lets you create HP and MP potions, as well as items that grant temporary stat boosts. You can create arrows and bolts that boost the damage of the Segita Hunter’s respective bow and crossbow attacks, too.
If you wish to change your Mastery, Dora will let you do so, but at the cost of some DIL. Your first Mastery reset is free, but subsequent resets cost more and more DIL, to the maximum of 10,000,000 DIL for your 5th and subsequent resets.
The Crafting Interface
To access the Crafting System, press Ctrl+R. On the left panel of the Crafting System window is the list of Recipes, which are how you produce specific items, and how you can see what Materials you will need in order to craft them. There are far more items used as Materials for crafting than can be listed here, but the primary material used in low-level crafting is Obsidian, which drops regularly from low-level monsters. Recipes are organised in hierarchical, related groups. Blue text means that there are Recipes listed under the selected entry, while white text means that the entry is a Recipe.
There are three tabs above the list of Recipes. The first tab says Armor, but actually lists all of the items which your selected Mastery allows you to create. The second, Common, lists items that can be crafted regardless of Mastery.
When you find and click on a Recipe, you will see the upper and lower right panels display its Crafting Information. The top right panel displays the item that will result from crafting with that Recipe, and you can see more details of the item itself, such as its stats when equipped, by hovering your mouse cursor over it. To the right of the item display is some more information about the crafting process:
- Req Mastery L means “Required Mastery Level,” and applies to items which require a specific Mastery. As you craft items for your specific Mastery, your Crafting Mastery will increase, until you reach a new Crafting Level. You must have a minimum Crafting Level to craft some items, which will be displayed here.
- Earned Mastery is how many points, if any, the given item will grant towards reaching your next Crafting Level. Your current Crafting Level and progress towards the next are displayed below the item information panel.
- Crafting Cost is for some Recipes which require an additional expenditure of DIL to craft.
- Crafting Time gives how much time you will need to craft an item. All Common items and most Mastery items can be crafted in less than a minute, but some powerful items can take longer, sometimes days.
- Success Rate informs you of which items are guaranteed to result when crafted, and which have a random chance of failure. Only a few items have a chance to fail being crafted, but you will not be given the exact chance – a recipe is either 100% or RANDOM.
Below the item information panel are the Materials required to craft the item. You must have the listed items to craft that Recipe, and the items will all be consumed in the crafting. The items must be in your own inventory to craft with them, not in your pet’s inventory or in your stash.
If you have enough materials to craft the Recipe, its name will be displayed in yellow text instead of white. To limit your Recipe list to Recipes which you possess the Materials for, click the Able to Craft button at the top of the Crafting System window, and click it again to display all Recipes again.
If you are looking for a certain recipe, you can use the Search function, but keep in mind that it is highly limited. Crafting Search is case-sensitive, and can only search from the first character of the Recipe’s name.
The Crafting Process
Once you’ve found the Recipe you want to craft and have the Materials for, click on it, and select the quantity you wish to craft, at the bottom of the Crafting Information panel. You can also select the maximum number you can craft with your Materials on hand, via the MAX button. Once the Recipe and quantity are chosen, press the Craft button on the bottom right to begin.
You will be taken to the Crafting Progress List, which is also accessible via the tab next to Armor and Common. You can see your in-progress crafting here, and how much time is remaining to craft completion. You can also cancel crafting before it is complete, but you will lose the Materials spent, and you cannot cancel crafting when it has less than one minute to completion.
Once crafting is complete, an icon with appear on the top-left corner of your screen, which you can click on to open the Crafting Progress List. Press the Receive Item button for the completed recipe, and the resulting item will be deposited into your character’s inventory.
You can only craft one item at a time, by default. But if you want to multitask and get ahead of the competition, you can expand your crafting slots to a maximum of three, via Dora’s Workshop, available in the DShop. If you are working on an item that will take at least another day to craft, and don’t want to wait, you can also purchase a Catalyst via the DShop to expedite the remaining time by one day. To use a Catalyst, open the In-progress window and click on the clock next to Time Remaining.
