Meister Titles
When you reach level 170, you can visit the once-hidden woods of Mitera and consult with the renowned Meister Gniar. Like Mazokie, Gniar will not waste time with the unworthy, and he will assign you a brief series of quests. When you approach the final stage of these quests, you will be told to select one of two combat styles for your character class, and Gniar will observe you from afar to decide, based upon the skills you use, which combat style suits you best.
When the brief evaluation period is complete, Gniar will award you one of your class’ two available Meister titles, based on his observations, and help you train the Meister skills to which your new title grants you access. (If you already have a Meister title in mind, then you can focus on the skills that Gniar mentions for your title of choice, to ensure that he selects that title for you.)
Meister skills function in combat like the other skills you have learned and used to that point, but they cannot be learned with Skill Points. Gniar will provide you with a Skill Book which allows you to learn the first Skill Level of your first Meister skill.
Two more Meister skills are available for each class, for a total of three, and you must locate the second and third Skill Books yourself. They are held by powerful creatures in high-level maps and dungeons. Once you have found one of these books, you can read it and the first level of the contained skill.
Training Meister skills to a levels beyond first requires additional books, and you must bring these books to Meister Gniar and pay a training fee to attempt to learn them. Learning higher ranks becomes progressively more difficult, and there is a growing chance of failure as a Meister skill's level increases. Reaching level 10 will probably require many failed attempts, but Gniar has faith in your ability to master his techniques.
The Blessing of Gnire, found in the DShop, grants an increased chance of success at one Meister skill training attempt.
In addition to the Meister skills specific to each class and title, you will gain access to four of eight movement skills (each four are specific to one of your class' two titles). These skills make a character perform a short, instant dash, in one of four directions relative to your facing. Each direction has its own individual skill. Higher ranks of movement Meister skills do not change the MP cost, but increase both the Cool Time and the distance moved. If you click on the box on your Meister skill tree that says Lock Move Skill Window, then you will be able to activate these movement skills by rapidly pressing your movement key twice. This will still consume MP and activate the skill’s cooldown as normal, so be careful when moving around.
Once you receive your Meister title, all of your skill points will be un-allocated from your skills and refunded. This is because your Meister title enhances some of your skills, letting you invest five additional skills points into them. You will probably want to select a few favoured skills and make them even stronger, instead of spreading out among multiple weaker skills. The skills with this newly-raised ceiling are usually all located on a single tree, but some titles focus more on a specific roles may and enhance skills across multiple trees. Trans Up skills are never enhanced by your Meister title selection.
Attaining a Meister title grants you one more benefit – the ability to equip an emblem. Emblems are equipped in your emblem equipment slot, located beneath your costume slot. Emblems grant stat boosts like any other piece of equipment, but each includes an interesting visual effect, displaying that you have earned Gniar’s approval and are a force to be reckoned with. There are many more emblems to be found than the one Gniar gives you, too.
